I'm from Austin Texas, giving SRV anything less than God-status is blasphemy down here. He did everything the 'wrong' way, and everything he played was so 'right.' His technique and style is something that to this day people can still pick out and say "Hey, that's Stevie."

I've never been much of a fan of SRV. I did like his cover of Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground though.

This coming Monday (August 27). It will be 17 years since Stevie Ray Vaughan died in that horrible helicopter crash along with many of Eric Clapton's roadcrew.
