ANother good reason WHY I don't listen to RADIO stations ..
So as my previous post says.. MY CD player has gone to shit.
SO this morning Im driving to work & listening to the Radio DJ.. and the one topic he has to talk about
"CLOVERFIELD" .. & IM not really listening BUT then all of a sudden He has to go and fucking tell the MAJOR Part of the flick ,,, ( Which I wont mention ) And totally ruins it for me and almost everyone who hasnt seen the movie.
AND i was hopefully planning on seeing it soon.
BUT DAMN, Now I guess not.

I am somewhat pro-choice, but at the same time, I don't think it's merely a matter of personal choice (I personally view abortions as murder by the time the fetus reaches a certain point in its development, but I don't really care either way).
It should be decided by society, not by the mother.
If the society does view killing an unborn child as a choice, then fine. But at the same time, this same society did convict Scott Peterson for second-degree murder in the death of his unborn child.

Thirty-five years ago today, the Supreme Court made the ruling on Roe vs. Wade. Women would not longer have to go before a panel of doctors and be morally judged before having a first-trimester abortion. Thirty-five years later, a few local churches sent their armies of sheep into the schools bearing red tape with the word "LIFE" written over their mouths. They refused to speak all day; that was probably the best part of the protest.

I noticed most of these sheep were girls from two particular churches, one Catholic and one Lutheran. Many of them went farther than "LIFE," writing inflammatory slogans such as "Abortion is murder," "She's a child, not a choice," and "Stop the slaughter!" Some carried pacifiers and teddy bears.

Apart from my obviously pro-choice rantings, I found these displays highly inappropriate for school. I can tolerate not talking and putting tape over your mouth, but the slogans were just asking for a fight to break out. When I asked these girls what they thought happened before Roe vs. Wade, many of them simply shrugged their shoulders or wrote "I don't know." It's a shame how many people have forgotten...

Before Roe vs. Wade, a woman had to go before a panel of doctors who would evaluate her moral standing. If she was married and already had more children than she could care for or support or had a condition that made pregnancy dangerous, she was usually allowed an abortion. The doctors felt that unmarried women had to "learn a lesson."

Between 1946 and 1972, having an unwed pregnant daughter was considered completely shameful. Since abortion wasn't readily available and often the fathers of the babies decided to duck marriage, the families sent their daughters away to maternity homes and coerced if not outright forced them into giving their babies up for adoption. I barely scraped the subject in this post. that book provides such grim detail as to the condition of the maternity homes. I can't talk about it.

I'm currently reading Soulless by Susan Estrich, a counter to Coulter's book, Godless. I read Godless and cannot believe the amount of misinformation that went into writing it. Already tried; doesn't work. My brother is only 13 months younger than me, so my parents send him to trail me wherever it's possible for him to go with me (such as school or church) and bring back all the details. They usually believe him unless it's downright outrageous (for example, "Shelby kissed some guy in front of the principal!")

Christianity may be good for those with hope. My father rants on about how Islam is violent and makes people commit acts of terror, but he somehow failed to mention the so-called "Christians" who started the crusades, executed "witches," and shoot abortion doctors and blow up Planned Parenthoods. My dad believes that Planned Parenthood marketed abortion as a way to control the black birthrate.
But my paternal family as a whole find no respect for people who find relief in, say, Buddhism. The only religion they respect other than Christianity is Judaism, and even then they're shaky.
I'm pissed because I faced another dinner-table discussion where my Grandma went on about how liberals and black people are ruining the country. Yes, my grandmother believes that black people are the end of the world as we know it. I hate listening to her go on and on about that...

As a side note, my dad and I have made peace. We are now speaking again, albeit on strained terms. We've agreed not to discus abortion or make any references to Ann Coulter or Michael Moore.

EDIT: This reminds me of a friend of mine who said that she met a guy who left the church and became an atheist after treatment of alchoholism. I always thought it was ironic, but I guess some people get inspiration from different places.

I have to disagree a little here, but I also disagree with your dad's statement of "atheism is for the uneducated". Christianity does serve a purpose for some people. When alcoholics who find "God", stop drinking and driving, that's a good thing! They are no longer endangering my sober ass on the roads. My dad and I got in a shouting match over abortion today. He said that abortion is for brainless sluts who deserve to be punished for having promiscuous sex. Than I asked him what e would do if I had an aboriton. He said that he would inject me with poison and kill me.
Gee, some loving father I have.
He gets all his political ideas from Ann Coulter. He fucking worships Ann Coulter. And I don't even touch Michael Moore! Now we're not speaking to each other.

This reminds me of when I was 13 and voted for John Kerry in an internet poll that would have NO IMPACT on the outcome of the real election. When my tattletale, suck-up brother told him what I did, my dad yelled at me that John Kerry would ruin the world and scared me so much that I cried. He says that he should've had a daughter after my brother (who's younger than me) was born so he could spoil her. Apparently, he thinks it's a bad thing that I don't go spending money at every turn and that I want a job. He also says that metal and the kids who bullied me ain grade school messed up my psyche and made me act "unnatural."
This reminds me of another event where I went to a restaurant at the mall and picked up a job application form. He growled, "You put that back right now!" and I quietly put it back, albeit with a startled expression on my face.

I wish my dad loved me...

EDIT: He also says that atheism is the heart of everything I believe him and that atheism is the religion of the uneducated and morally corrupt. He says that my atheism is just a phase and that if I don't "snap out of it," he'll take my metal away.
He also says that I don't need therapy and that the cost of cousneling sessions is highway robbery. My mom thinks this too and they're cutting me off from therapy in December.

Wow, sorry to hear about that. Sucks big time, especially since the lessons were canceled so close to the start time.

As hard as it may be, you really should try to discuss this with your parents. I'm sure it will be hard but even if nothing changes they should at least know how you feel and where YOUR priorities are.

I'M SO GODDAMN PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday, my parents said they would call the music store and cancel mine and my brother's drum lessons so we could lead Bible camp. (FYI, I don't even believe in god and there's a girl who's almost my age in the group who leads it better than I do. The camp could live without me and my brother while thsoe churchfolk sit and chow on leftover Rosa the Rabbit cookies.) They called ONE HOUR before our lessons were scheduled. The store has a 24-hour cancellation policy. I missed drum lessons with no rescheduling options for the second week in a row. This is NOT the first time something like this has happened. I can't call myself because I have a paranoid fear of talking on the phone and they may not accept lesson cancellations from minors.

In addition, I wanted to go to a music camp at Mr. Smalls Theater that takes palce one week every year (and one week only). I went last year, and it was the ebst week of my life. It would be my only chance to have a social opportunity (other than an organized Girl Scout trip and dates with my boyfriend) all summer. Instead, my dad scheduled a cruise for that week and bad-mouthed the part of town where Mr. Smalls is. (My dad is also behind Bible camp.)

I can tell where my parents' priorities are. They do all this ebcause they want to change me. They think that a minister would be offended by the band name "Icarus Witch" (which comes from Greek mythology, of all things!) Meanwhile, Little Miss Minister wasn't even there tonight- she and her family packed up and headed on vacation. FOR GOD'S FUCKING SAKE, THE YOUNGEST KID IN MY GROUP IS SEVEN AND THERE ARE ONLY FIVE OF US!!! MADISON CAN LEAD THE GROUP BETTER THAN I CAN!!! LET HER FUCKING TAKE OVER FOR ONE NIGHT AND LET ME RETAIN MY DIGNITY!!!!!!!!!!

Heres my small rant:okay its about 8:24 in the morning over here, and I'm ranting because I HATE mornings sometimes I wonder why society thinks "morning" is before 11:00?!?!

Sometimes it makes me look twice to see how much it is/was diffrent in/out of school. But, I feel sad for the ones in school who treated everyone with indecensy, unfortunatly, they may have a wake-up call coming.
I guess its just amazes me, but I sigh *sigh* with relief.

I know it's not really racism, I guess prejudice would have been the better word. But it is considered somewhat illegal for a woman to walk around in a bikini. I saw one time on the subway, a woman was in a bikini top and a very short denim skirt with the top of the thong sticking out (even when she was standing you could see the crotch of her underwear and almost half her ass) and a cop came up to her and said that he's giving her a warning that she cannot dress like that since that is indecent exposure.

There was another time when I saw two people, around my age, that were making out. I think it's a beautiful thing when a guy and a girl feel for eachother enough to not care about the PDA taboo (public displays of affection). A cop told them that as crazy as it sounds, it is considered a sexual act and they cannot do that in public. He said that he's not going to arrest them for it, but someone else might.

Neither one of those people (the hot half naked chick or the couple that were making out) were hurting anyone, yet that was considered illegal? That's just wrong.

You can be sure that if it were two guys who were doing that, nothing would happen since it is a sensitive issue. That's why I say that they should either let both cases do that stuff or not let either.

TOTALLY nitpicking here, but your post would not be considered rasicm at all. Racism has to do with one's views on blacks, whites, Chinese, Jew's, etc. I understood what you were trying to say, though.

I am not sure I see the issue, mainly because I have not ever really come across an incident where a woman parading around in a bikini was considered indecent exposure. Maybe I just don't watch enough real TV.
