I relaize that I've discussed this just about everywhere but here. Of course, it's hard to talk about, given what happened. As you can imagine, it was rather difficult to be a wrestling fan last week.

So, I've been absent for awhile, and I am completely shocked that nobody has posted anything about the death of Benoit. Chris Benoit was one of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time, and I am deeply saddened by his death. I haven't had much time to research all the gory details, but tonight I found this article, and I am speechless.

The most memorable Benoit event I can recall was Backlash (I think) in 2004. It was a bloody match in his home town, and I cried when he prevailed against Triple H and Shawn Michaels. This is a sad time in wrestling. :crying:

Question: Who was the crazy ass wrestler who claimed to have been hired by Courtney Love to kill Kurt Cobain? I remember watching a documentary on him, and it was really good, but for the life of me I can't remember his name or the name of the documentary. His name was like "El" something...and he died in a mysterious way after he claimed to have been hired by her.

I used to watch wrestling ALL the freaking time as a kid and during high school. I stopped watching right around the time that WWF and WCW turned into WWE.

I think the moment that sticks out most in my mind from all of the wrestling I watched was when Earthquake did his Earthquake ass smash on the bag with Damien in it (Jake the snake's "good" pet snake). Then Jake the Snake re-emerged with an "evil" cobra and took a turn as a heel instead of a good guy.

Probably the most badass tag-team I can remember that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet is Demolition...

Names: Axe, Smash, and later added Crush (Crush's move was to basically squeeze someone's head like a vice until they gave up)

Yeah. Owen, Stu, and British Bulldog all died...Bret was put out of wrestling with an injury, and Teddy Hart is generally seen as a jerk since he was dropped from WWE multiple times (they might end up signing him since there's plans for a new Hart Foundation in WWE). Then you think what happens to people associated with the Hart Family or Stampede (Bad News Allen/Brown died this year, Dynamite Kid can't wrestle anymore, Brian Pillman died).

At least their promotion is make a slow comeback. That's good.

Yeah, it was Kevin. I had a feeling I was wrong on that :(. Ric Flair said that Fritz pushed them hard in the ring and wanted them all to be wrestlers. He also said that Kerry was high most of the time they wrestled and tended to be uncontrollable. :(

Oh, you guys in Texas were lucky in the 1970s and 1980s...you had Amarillo (Dory Jr. and Terry Funk's promotion). I'm only 22, but I heard that group was the hottest in Texas since it originated hardcore wrestling pretty much.

Bruiser Brody was a bad ass. Sucked that he died when he did, I believe he would be in that group of wrestlers who still wrestle over 60 with fellow hardcore wrestlers Abdullah the Butcher and Terry Funk (both of whom he wrestled). The Von Erichs were a great wrestling family, but something happened to them everytime you turned around. I think only David is alive.

I grew up here in Txs in the early late 70's and early 80's . I remember going to see the Texas World class championship wrestling matches in my early youth. I was maybe 7 or 8 when my dad and my cousins would go see them. I got to see all the Greats back then here. Ric Flair, kamallah, Bruiser Brody . But of course my favorites were the Von Erichs . Yeah Mick Foley, he's one of my favorites. At first I was pretty much "Oh he's cool." but after I saw him in the King of the Deathmatches 95 Finals (vs. Terry Funk) I was like "WOW." He might not be the best wrestler...or in the best shape...or have the best stamina, but he was my favorite behind Sabu in the 90s.

I know, it was weird because he still had hair in the front and it was balding. Like crazy old man hair.

Then again, Savage was really never right in the head. The glasses and tassles kicked ass though. The only other person who pulled off the tassles right was Ultimate Warrior and you know he's lost his mind now.

For some reason, I always loved Savage... especially in the years when he was losing his hair on top, but refused to cut the side hair shorter... It made for hillarious hair styles while he was rasslin!!!
