I know it went under the name of ZOMBI and it can be confusing, since Lucio Fulci's Zombie is the second one over there.

RE: Night of the Living Dead turns 40

So this has nothing to do with Night of... but it's about Dawn, the sequel.

I rented the original (or at least some version of the original) Dawn of the Dead a few days ago. I hadn't seen it before even though I own the modern remake. I've seen Suspiria, so I know a little bit about the band Goblin. Anyhow, one thing I really dug about the version of Dawn that I watched was the Goblin soundtrack. Well I was in a different video store last night and saw "ZOMBI" which stated on the cover that it was Daria Argento's recut of Dawn of the Dead. On the back it mentions that the recut "removes the 'American' humor" and "replaces the 'muzak' with a savage score by Goblin". So... Now I have no idea what retooling was done to the version that I watched.

Anyone know if the re-cut was ever marketed here on DVD simply as Dawn of the Dead?

RE: Night of the Living Dead turns 40

My favorite horror film of all time.

Actually, it's probably my favorite film of all time. I watch, at least, every Halloween.

RE: Night of the Living Dead turns 40

This is the greatest zombie flick ever, especially for its time. It is hard to believe it was made 40 years ago. I enjoy the Return quite a bit too. It's probably my second favorite zombie flick.

RE: Night of the Living Dead turns 40

Can you imagine watching that movie in 1968? Given the relatively "squeaky clean" nature of society back then, (TV stars sleeping in separate beds and such) the audience must have been completely beside themselves. What a trip!

RE: Night of the Living Dead turns 40

They don't make zombie films like this anymore.

RE: Night of the Living Dead turns 40

1968? I never would have guessed that movie was made 40 years ago.... While it being shot in black-and-white probably should have tipped me off, I really can't imagine that film in color. In fact, I think color would have totally taken away from that film.

Anyway, that film spawned a whole slew of movies that I love. Here is to 40 more years of great zombie movies... CHEERS!

Night of the Living Dead turns 40

That's right. The classic zombie film turns 40 this year.
