Since I have been lucky enough to be able to review a ton of new music I have made quite a few new discoveries so far this year.  And the diverse interests of the membership here has helped broaden my horizons as well.  Every year we all come across brand new bands we dig, and some old bands that we really never gave much of a chance to for whatever reason.  Then for some reason we open our eyes and the greatness becomes obvious.

Bands that I have recently discovered, both established and fairly new, thanks to Living for Metal:

Celtic Frost

King Diamond/Mercyful Fate (How could I not with all the reviews done by our very own Metalhead87)

Kamelot

Witchery

Beyond Twilight

Communic

Excalion

Tears of Anger

Section A

There might be others I am missing at the moment, but this is a start.  So, tell me what bands you have begun listening to since the beginning of this year?

Crap!!!  I forgot one already....

Icarus Witch.  Capture the Magic is a great debut (minus the EP Roses on White Lace) and I eagerly await the follow-up.

I have to admit, I didn't like Section A at first. But that album grew on me big time! It's one of my favorite albums now.

There are too many bands to list but...

Scott Mosher (probably my top 3 favorite albums of the year)

Eidolon

Enochian Crescent

Loch Vostok

Section A

Simone Fiorletta

Dimension Zero (I love those two albums)

and many others

(I won't list Angel Blake because I was waiting for the album ever since they formed)

What you used to love now, you're gonna adore. With Charmin Ultra, less is more. Cha Cha Cha, Charmin.

Another good list, dooman.  But, I have to be real picky here (sorry).  The Tunnelvision CD is title Tomorrow, not No Tomorrow.  I love that CD, one of the best prog metal CD's I have ever heard.

Dreamscape's End of Silence, while very similar to Dream Theater, is also absolutely killer except for track 4 (I forget the name right now).

I need to get familiar with Power of Omens.  Everything I have I heard like, so far.  Have you ever heard of Twelfth Gate?  Very similar band, technical prog metal out of Chicago.

I was disappointed with Red Circuit.  I got it because of the names associated with it and I find it a little weak.  I'll give it more time, though.

Do you read Terrorizer? Pretty much every band on Fear Candy 29.
