Not sure if this is the right forum for it but here it goes. I have been getting into bands like Soilwork, Mnemic, and Strapping Young Lad new In Flames, Fear Factory etc.. Kind of metalcore with the industrial feel. Can't seem to get enough of it. I used to hate this genre of metal but its growing on me. I'm catching a lot of slack from my friends who call me a poser for liking these bands (or not "true"). Oh well I like what I like.

In Flames and Soilwork are meodic death, and damn good ones, too. Well, mostly the old stuff, IMO, but still good.

Mnemic isn't too bad, either. I have one of 'em but I don't listen to it much. They have a new one coming out soon. To me they really don't fit into one category since they have a strange mixture of sounds.

Don't listen to Fear Factory or SYL at all, but both have pretty stong followings.

I would definitely say that newer Soilwork and In Flames borders the metalcore line.

I would have to disagree very much so.

Blasphemy!  Do tell.  They've definitely incorporated some newer elements into their sound, including breakdowns and some metalcore-ish vocals.  At least that's what it sounds like to me.

They don't have really breakdowns. The vocals are a more mainstream version of melodic DM.

I've been a big fan of Fear Factory for a long time. Whether or not the albums as a whole are great, Raymond Herrera's drumming has never let me down. Demanufacture is one of my favorite albums.

I've seen Mnemic a few times live, but never really sat down and listened to them... I actually just saw them about a week ago with God Forbid. They're not too bad, and I'd like to listen to their new album.

I really liked the first few Soilwork albums. My opinion on their later albums is that they're more of a single's band, i.e. one or two really good and catchy songs on an album and the rest is kind of bland. I also really liked In Flames' album Reroute to Remain, which was their first foray into the industrial stuff. It's hard to explain why I thought Come Clarity and Soundtrack to Your Escape sucked.. I just didn't like them. One reason is that I really don't like Anders singing vocals.

Strapping Young Lad is a mixed bag, in my opinion, but it's mostly due to the lyrics. Half the songs on The New Black are amazing ("Wrong Side" was one of my fav. songs of 2006), and the other half are attempts at humor ("Fucker", "You Suck", "Far Beyond Metal") that are just lame, in my opinion.

"Fucker
You fucker
Fucker
Get out of my face, get off my case
You're a fucker
You're all fuckers
And I don't fucking care"

Wow, you said the F word.

"Tell us how much they fucking suck!
HELL YEAH THEY FUCKING SUCK!
You and your band you fucking suck!
HELL YEAH YOU FUCKING SUCK!
I don't give a fuck you fucking fuck!
HELL YEAH YOU FUCKING SUCK!
Come on tell me how much we fucking suck
HELL YEAH YOU FUCKING SUCK!
Hell yeah we fucking suck!
Hell yeah we fucking suck!
Oh fuck us all!"

Wow, you said the F word some more... a lot more.
