Was at a minor league baseball game tonight and they were playing Pantera's Cemetary Gates over the PA system. Also heard a Tool song at one of my daughters dance recital's a few years ago. I threw the horns up when I heard that one.

| This isn't really metal... but one of the weirdest things I ever saw was a bunch of 'tweens fancy dancing to a version of "Rape Me" by Nirvana at one of my sister's dance recitals a few years ago. I've also really wanted to see a performance of the Ballet Deviant (I think that's what it's called). The metal band Arsis worked with a professional dance group to create a death metal ballet. I haven't watched Headbanger's Ball in a while, but they used to run some promo interludes about it before commercials, they never really showed any clips from the actual performance though. I know it's kinda viewed as a trendy poser store now, but I still think it's funny to see the old people that walk laps in the mall make faces of disgust and torment when they power walk by Hot Topic and hear the devil music.

The strangest place I have heard metal recently is on the radio. Around these parts we have a shitty station that uses tons of actual extreme music in their promos and commercial, but the station's regular rotation features mainly pop rock/pop metal. Well, the other day I was stuck listening to the radio when Megadeth's Symphony Of Destruction came blasting out my speakers.
I was promptly reminded of how terrible the station was when they followed that up with some Buck Cherry song.

Kinda similar to what Josh F said about a dance version of a song. Many years ago when I was less into metal than I am now I used to go to dance clubs occasionally with a buddy who was a huuuuuuge NIrvana fan. He somehow came across a dance version of Smells Like Teen Spirit. He found the CD single and bought it. It was actually pretty damn cool. Used to listen to it a lot way back when. Once we were at a club and we asked the DJ if he would play it. He was real skeptical at first but after the response he offered to buy it from us.
